Buyer's Guide

Everything you need to know before you buy.

Learn about hot tub and sauna size options, site planning, power requirements, and care choices.

Key Considerations

How to choose the right model.

1. Size & Seating

How many people will use your hot tub or sauna regularly? We carry models that fit from 2 to 7+ adults. If you plan to use it for socializing, prioritize models with open barrier-free seating. For hydrotherapy, look for dedicated lounger seats with specialized jets.

2. Power Requirements

Hot tubs are available in 110V (Plug-and-Play) and 230V options. Plug-and-Play spas can be plugged into a standard outdoor outlet, but the heater and jets cannot run on high speed at the same time. 230V spas heat faster and run all functions simultaneously but require a dedicated 50-amp electrical line.

3. Water Care Systems

Traditional chlorine systems are simple and affordable but can cause odors and skin dryness. Saltwater sanitation systems (like the FreshWater Salt System) automatically generate sanitizer from salt, leading to softer, chemical-free water that lasts up to a year before draining.

4. Insulation & Winter Operations

In Alaska, full insulation is essential. Premium models feature multiple layers of high-density foam that lock in heat and keep monthly operation costs low, even during sub-zero winters. High-quality insulated covers are also critical to prevent steam and heat loss.

Site Planning

Preparing for delivery day.

1. The Foundation

You need a level, solid surface—a reinforced concrete pad (4-inch minimum) or a structural deck built to hold the weight of a filled spa (up to 6,000+ lbs).

2. Electrical Prep

Hire a licensed contractor to install a subpanel and direct-wire the spa. For plug-and-play spas, ensure you have a dedicated GFCI standard outlet nearby.

3. Delivery Access

Check the path from the street to the pad. Note gate widths, steps, low-hanging eaves, and sharp corners. In some cases, crane delivery is required.
