Pre-Delivery Setup Guide
Prepare your backyard, deck, or indoor space for a smooth delivery and installation.
Site Preparation
Key installation requirements.
1. Delivery Path & Clearances
Spas are delivered on their side using specialized carts. To ensure the delivery crew can safely maneuver the tub into position, please check:
- Gate Widths: Most spas require at least 38 to 44 inches of clear width.
- Overhead Clearances: Check for low-hanging gutters, roof eaves, trees, or utility lines.
- Obstacles: Ensure steps, gas meters, air conditioners, or narrow corners are bypassed.
2. Foundation & Base Options
A hot tub filled with water and guests can weigh between 3,000 and 6,000 lbs. It must sit on a flat, level, structurally sound surface:
- Concrete Pad: A reinforced 4-inch concrete slab is highly recommended.
- Decks: Decks must be engineered to support 100 to 125 lbs per square foot.
- Gravel Beds: A compacted gravel or crushed stone pad works well if properly leveled.
3. Electrical Requirements
Ensure your electrical setup is prepared prior to delivery. All electrical wiring must be completed by a licensed electrician:
- 220V Models: Require a dedicated 50A or 60A circuit and an external GFCI subpanel breaker box located at least 5 feet away from the tub.
- 110V Plug-N-Play: Requires a dedicated 15A or 20A household outlet with GFCI. No extension cords should be used.
4. Alaska Winter Guidelines
Installing a tub in freezing temperatures requires extra attention to detail:
- Wind Shielding: Place the tub in an area protected from harsh north winds to reduce heating costs.
- Cover Security: Use heavy-duty wind straps to keep the insulated cover secure during winter gales.
- Plumbing Access: Ensure access panels remain clear and reachable for winter servicing.
